Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 2026
This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of personal data by Empyria (UEN: 53489352W) (“the Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) in connection with the matching services it provides. “L-plate.sg” is a trading name under which the Company provides the Services. References to “L-plate.sg” in any communication, listing, or payment instruction are references to the Company.
L-plate.sg takes the privacy of your personal data seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data when you engage our service of matching students with independent freelance driving instructors (the “Service”) — whether you contact us through our enquiry form (the “Form”), via WhatsApp, or by any other channel we make available.
This Policy is issued in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (No. 26 of 2012) of Singapore (“PDPA”). By submitting your personal data to us, or by continuing to use the Service, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal data in the manner described in this Policy.
1. Personal Data We Collect
We may collect the following personal data (“Personal Data”):
- your name;
- your contact number (handphone);
- your email address;
- your location or area;
- the purpose or details of your enquiry; and
- any other information you choose to provide when you contact us or complete the Form.
2. How We Use Your Personal Data
We use your Personal Data to:
- respond to and process your enquiry, application, or request;
- match you with one or more suitable independent driving instructors, including by reference to your location and stated preferences;
- facilitate the provision of the Service, including communicating with you about your match; and
- comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
3. Disclosure of Personal Data
Matching you with an instructor is the core of our Service. To do this, we will disclose relevant Personal Data (such as your name, contact number, and location) to the independent driving instructor(s) we match you with, so that the instructor can contact you and arrange instruction. By using the Service, you consent to this disclosure.
We do not sell, rent, or lease your Personal Data to any third party. Apart from the instructors we match you with, we disclose your Personal Data only to parties who assist us in operating the Service (such as payment or messaging providers), or where required by law.
4. Withdrawal of Consent
You may withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your Personal Data at any time by giving us reasonable notice in writing, using the contact details in Clause 11. Upon receiving your request, we will inform you of the likely consequences of withdrawal. We will then cease to collect, use, or disclose your Personal Data, except to the extent we are required or permitted to continue doing so under applicable law.
Please note that withdrawing your consent may mean that we are no longer able to match you with an instructor or otherwise provide the Service to you.
5. Access to and Correction of Your Personal Data
You may request access to the Personal Data we hold about you, together with information about how it has been used or disclosed in the 12 months before your request. You may also request that we correct any error or omission in your Personal Data. Please send such requests to our Data Protection Officer using the contact details in Clause 11.
We may charge a reasonable fee to process an access request, and will inform you of the fee in advance.
6. Protection of Your Personal Data
We make reasonable security arrangements to protect your Personal Data against unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or similar risks. These measures include restricting access to Personal Data to authorised persons, using reputable service providers, and applying appropriate technical and organisational safeguards. However, no method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Retention of Personal Data
We retain your Personal Data only for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purposes set out in this Policy, or as required or permitted by applicable law. When your Personal Data is no longer needed for any legal or business purpose, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise it.
8. Transfer of Personal Data Outside Singapore
Some of the service providers we use to operate the Service (such as cloud-hosting, form, spreadsheet, and messaging providers) may store or process your Personal Data on servers located outside Singapore. Where we do so, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient provides a standard of protection comparable to the PDPA.
9. Cookies and Website Data
Our website may use cookies or similar technologies to enable core functionality and to understand how visitors use the site. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, although some features of the website may not function properly as a result.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on our website with a revised effective date and will apply from the date of posting. Your continued use of the Service after any update constitutes your acknowledgement of the revised Policy.
